No clear solution for Clear Lake
There are too many unknown factors to determine what's best for dealing with Clear Lake's abnormally high water levels, a hydrogeology expert told Milton Township residents tonight.
About 60 Clear Lake neighbors and town officials gathered to meet with Madeline Gotkowitz, associate professor with UW Extension’s Wisconsin Geological and Natural History Survey, to talk about what's going on with the lake and potential solutions.
Gotkowitz said the community could consider pumping or dredging the lake. But first, it should know what's at the bottom of the lake, how the lake is fed and drained, and how fast water comes into the lake.
Scientists expect Wisconsin to get warmer with more rain and snow in the coming years, so the lake might not return to its old levels on its own, she said.
