Council hires contractor for lake dredging
EVANSVILLE
The Evansville City Council tonight hired Integrity Grading & Excavating of Schofield as contractor for the Lake Leota dredging project.
The contractor was the lowest of six bidders at $885,069, well below the $2 million that voters approved spending last week.
The council hired Vierbicher Associates for project management and on-site engineering at a cost of $78,350.
The council approved borrowing $1,365,000 for the project, which includes the contractor and project manager costs, permit fees, about $170,000 in contingencies “for surprises,” and payment to the landowners receiving the dredged material, City Administrator Dan Wietecha said.

FINALLY! Lake Leota will return. I am happy the board found a way to accomplish this and stay under budget. It is now the perfect time to get this project up and going. Move forward Evansville. You have much bigger fish to fry!

So they won't need to take out the loan for OVER 2 million then, just this week??? It was only approved for lake dredging nothing else.

Very "GOOD" news. I am so glad this is happening. This park has just been one of the best & relaxing places. To see it come back to a place where visitors will visit,is all good for Evansville & the community.
