MADISON — The race to become the next speaker of the Wisconsin Assembly is down to two. Reps. Pedro Colon and Fred Kessler, both of Milwaukee, dropped out on Monday and announced they are supporting fellow Milwaukee Rep. Jon Richards.

Also running for the post is Rep. Mike Sheridan of Janesville.

Democrats are taking control of the Assembly for the first time in 14 years. The 52-member Democratic caucus will elect its new leader on Wednesday following a secret ballot.

Speaker is the top position in the Assembly.

What has Sheridan done for Janesville?

Well, it is interesting that he's going for this. Richards has been Assistant Leader of the Democratic Caucus, whereas Sheridan hasn't even led a Committee that I can see. Still, all that counts is whether your colleagues think you'd be the best Speaker.

God forbid if he gets this. How this phony ever got elected in the first place is beyond me. Wake up legislators.
