Fugitive in custody after another fatal shooting
MADISON, Wis. (AP) The fugitive wanted in a Cross Plains homicide case is in custody after another fatal shooting in Iowa County.
Charles Witzel walked into a Wal-Mart store in Dodgeville Friday morning and called police to surrender.
Iowa County Sheriff Steven Michek said deputies were called to a Mineral Point home Thursday night where two people had been shot. One person was killed and another wounded. The survivor told deputies they had been shot by Witzel.
Witzel has been on the run following a fatal shooting a week ago in Cross Plains.
Dane County sheriff's officials say Witzel fatally shot Craig Severson and wounded his fiancee, Lisa Morgan. The couple was preparing a first birthday celebration for their son when they were shot.

This is a prime case in support of the death penalty. Insanity...no defense...was smart enough to carry out the plan, remain on the run for a week! Well, we'll get some more liberal Supreme Court Justices now...so kiss that idea goodbye.

It wasn't that, it was his parents.

Nurse4u - you said: "At least he did not hurt anyone at Walmart!".
That was his plan, that there would be no shooting. He called from Walmart and said he would not come outside. He would lay down on the floor and not resist. He knew that the police would shoot him if he went outside (for good reason) so he played it safe for himself.
He may be a deranged maniac, but he was crafty enough to save himself.

Give him to the survivors and their family let them pass sentence!!! Thank God he turned himself in as more lives would have been lost.

He must have been upset because of the economy and hard times. I'm sure that's the excuse we'll here at some point. Isn't that what most whack jobs do when times are rough? Go off the handle and blame it on everything else but themselves? Or wait...maybe he wasn't himself...or maybe he wasn't sane.

He is a very scary person. NO concern for life. No respect for it. We should all be grateful he did not kill more than he did. I am really surprised he gave himself up as he seems like someone who would shoot it out with police. But he may have been out of money.

Thank god this wack job is in custody. It's unforunate they couldn't apprehend him before he murdered another person.
