From the WCLO newsroom:

The Janesville School Board is closer to selecting a search firm and a new superintendent.

Director of Human Services Steve Salerno says he contacted 13 search firms and five responded with proposals. Most of the firms are within Wisconsin, but a few are from the upper midwest.

Salerno says most of the firms have performed national searches. Salerno says he cannot discuss the cost of the search firms at this time, but earlier board discussions indicated it could be between $5000 and $30,000.

Superintendent Tom Evert retires at the end of June.
