Wis. cities see more early votes cast than in '04
MILWAUKEE -- Thousands of Wisconsin voters continue to swarm to their local city offices, casting their ballots early to avoid the long lines expected Tuesday.
City clerks across the state say the number of early voters this year has already surpassed the totals from the 2004 election.
In Madison, about 26,500 voters had cast their ballots as of Friday morning. That's about 5 percent more than in 2004.
And in La Crosse, Deputy City Clerk Nikki Elsen says about 6,000 absentee ballots have been returned, an increase of about 17 percent over the last presidential election.
Government Accountability Board director Kevin Kennedy predicts 450,000 to 500,000 ballots will be cast early, representing about 15 percent of voters.

Gilly, it's clear enough it's talking about early voters 2004 vs. early voters 2008. There are more already with two or three days (Friday, Saturday and Monday, potentially) to be added yet.
