Home sweet home for 395th
APPLETON, Wis. (AP) — About 45 soldiers of the U.S. Army Reserve’s Appleton-based 395th Ordnance Company are back in Wisconsin after a year in Iraq.
The soldiers are currently undergoing several days of debriefing at Fort McCoy before they return to the Fox Cities by bus.
Family Readiness Group Leader Katy Schultz says the soldiers should arrive in Appleton on Wednesday afternoon.
From there, open-side trolleys will carry the soldiers through Appleton, escorted by the Patriot Guard Riders motorcycle group and Appleton police and fire vehicles.
A welcome-home program also is being planned at the Reserve Center.
The soldiers left Wisconsin on June 5. Another platoon of the 395th left for Afghanistan about two months ago.
