Janesville School Board member hopes for district job
From the WCLO newsroom:
Janesville School Board commissioner Amy Rashkin hopes to apply for a staff development job the school district may create.
Commissioner Tim Cullen says that's inappropriate. He says the school board is not a job-creating agency for its members. Commissioner Kevin Murray also voiced opposition to the job. Murray says the school board needs to stop spending.
Commissioner Dennis Vechinsky says he trusts that the superintendent will give the staff development position to Rashkin only if she is the most qualified for the position. Rashkin says she is not trying to hide anything and she would resign before applying.
The staff development position will be discussed by the district's personnel committee in two weeks.

Mud slinging aside, where is Amy Rashkin's sense of commitment? We elected her for this position only one year ago, and she's already looking to move on? I regret casting a vote for her and feel bad for the candidates that lost to someone so quick to resign.

If commisioner Tim Cullen wants to be the district administrator he should get the appropriate education and apply for the job. I am tired of his micro-managing everything from where to store the wrestling mats on up. If you think I am kidding, just attend a board meeting or watch on TV. The board's role is to SET POLICY and let the administration ADMINISTER!

Why is it that the superintendent desires to create a new job when the school corporation continues to state that they are running short on money for current expendatures and cut the budget? It doesn't make sense. Why simply can not the schools and other governmental offices attempt to run a budget like private people must. Expenses cannot exceed income!
