BOSTON (AP) — Sen. Edward M. Kennedy was airlifted to a hospital Saturday after suffering a seizure at his home, and did not appear to have had a stroke as initially suspected, his spokeswoman said. The 76-year-old Democrat, the lone surviving son in a famed political family, was undergoing tests at Massachusetts General Hospital to determine the cause of the seizure, spokeswoman Stephanie Cutter said. “Senator Kennedy is resting comfortably, and it is unlikely we will know anything more for the next 48 hours,” she said. Kennedy’s wife, Victoria, his children and Caroline Kennedy were among those with him at the hospital.

I feel the same as you. If Obama wins, and you have a Democratic congress, the many (like us) on the conservative side will get a good laugh. You will see a revisiting of the Carter days of double digit everything (inflation, unemployment, interest rates) all over again, and a complete joke of foreign policy appeasement. The up side was; however, that the failed Crater disaster led to the greatest Presidency of modern times in Reagan!

I agree with you that McCain has a very good chance to win the Presidency in November, but the Republicans really do look in disarray past that. Here is a great article written by EX Clintonestia (now very much anti Clinton) Dick Morris, who I think is one of the best political analysts out there.

I think if we look at each president we will all find faults. Unfortunately our political system fails us as it doesn't work "for the people" anymore, it is all one big cat fight. No one works with anyone to try to do the best for the "people of the United States".

I was a kid then and I just remember that song being sung.... Thought it might lighten the mood. :O)

Ms sassy - don't believe any news poll or a college study. They are both biased liberal democrats who of course are going to come up with some errant poll. You only have to go back 28 years to identify the worst president ever; Jimmy Carter. We are still paying for his failed policies. I am not sure how you can come up with a historian poll when he is still in his presidency. When thinking about good jobs, just remember what cigar inserting, massive lying, cheating president signed in NAFTA.......

not all "less fortunate" people are lazy. life deals us cards that we have to play. sometimes it's Ace-No-Face. But we can't get a re-deal, so we play the cards we have in our hand. We probably won't "win", but at least we stay in the game and try to get a pair of 2's.

and people aren't wondering why they voted for Bush now, right?! give me a break! During his campaign he was asked, "What political philosopher or thinker do you most identify with and why?" The other candidates cited former presidents and other political figures, but Bush responded, "Christ, because he changed my heart." Newsflash: Christ wouldn't go into a foreign land and kill innocent people or falsely accuse someone, over spend other people's money or abandon the citizens of his own country after a catastrophe like Katrina. I'm not entirely sure his heart has been changed...unless of course he was truly the devil prior to the so-called "change of heart", and now it's just a wee bit kinder and gentler. I don't claim to know his heart, but my view is that one demonstrates the condition of one's heart in actions. I'm not convinced.

On April 15, 2008, the results of an informal poll of 109 historians (conducted by George Mason University's History News Network) found that 98.2% of the respondents considered Bush's Presidency a failure. 61% of the historians said that Bush was the worst President in United States history.

Just an observation.

I believe what they what they were referring to is the state of the party not towing the line of fiscally conservatism. GW has spent his way over the last 8 years. I am not against giving the military what they need, but it is the rest we have spent on expanding government and other social programs which have got me torqued. Bring back Reaganism!

localboy, even the GOP strategist Mike Murphy and Mike Huckabee were on Meet the Press this morning and admit that the Republican brand is in trouble. I'm not saying the dems have it right, cuz there are PLENTY of problems...but if an elephant marched down my road, I don't believe it would survive long...and NO, I don't receive food stamps or other assistance. I'm a very hard-working, working poor female. *sigh*

NVgrf - are you serious? I am sure this is a little of off the subject of the post, but you think the Republican party is in disarray? You must be the one under the influence of food stamps or some other kind of democratic hand out. The Republicans have had their candidate picked months ago, and the Democrats are the ones in-fighting over delagates or super delagates or even states that violated their party primary rules. You have to be kidding about your comment For goodness sake, the Democratic party is run by Howard Dean. I am not sure about you or others, but my life has been pretty good the last 8 years, knowing that my hard earned money is not being distributed to somebody else who doesn't want to work for a living. Just ask Lenin, Stalin, and Hitler how income distribution and equal class societies worked out. I believe in one God, one Nation, and English for all! All of you flag burning, clog wearing, utopian bleeding hearts can take your Democratic party and move to Canada or France. Give my money to the military, not some 3rd generation unemployed pregnant mother of 6.

the difference apparently between me and many others is that I try to treat others as they would like to be treated and not the new trend to do to others what they have done to me. I'm not ashamed of my thoughts or actions.

whatdidyousay.........Thanks to Bush, Cheney and their cohorts, the Republican Party is in disarray and going under. You can tell the end is near when the Gazette posts by Republicans focus almost entirely on being critical of Obama and little about singing the praises of their candidate. They seldom mention the name McCain.
Over the last eight years the Republicans have put our nation on the verge of domestic and international ruin. Thank God that we will have a chance to turn things around beginning in November.
In good conscience, anyone who can say we need four more years of a Republican in the White House must have slept for the last eight.

well I for one hope that he recovers and that his family and friends are with him. Whether you are republican or democrat, there is a human being with a need. Is it too hard to dig deep to show some compassion? You don't have to agree with his opinions, but gee whiz, I sure wouldn't want anyone to be that disrespectful to a family member or friend of mine.
