Woman "drives through" Janesville Taco Bell

By Steve Benton ( Contact )   May 13, 2008 - 6:49 a.m.

From the WCLO newsroom:

JANESVILLE — The Taco Bell at Highway 14 and Pontiac in Janesville sustained extensive damage Monday night when a patron drove through the wall of the women's restroom.

Janesville police say the 55-year-old female driver told them she wasn't feeling well, and hit the gas instead of the brake as she was parking.

Police said about half of the vehicle was inside the building.

The driver wasn't hurt and nobody was in the restroom at the time. The incident was reported around 9:00.

And benstinkin, because my opinions differ from yours I'm lumped into some category with other posters here? We're each entitled to our own opinions. Whatever group you feel I belong, I accept. Because I know it's above any group you must belong to. Your simple mind just has trouble accepting the truth with some issues, I suspect.

I'm negative, westside, because I read these comments by you and the other common folks of this little town and it makes me sad for it's future. I'd explain more, but suspect it'd be beyond your understanding.

Let's do lunch next week. I'm stopping by Singapore actually on my way to my early Summer home at a secret private island I own. You forget to throw in how you pilot your own private jet to get there:-)

No JanesvilleHero - unlike you, I found the means to leave Janesville and find a very lucrative career. I am in no need for money since I am enjoying an early retirement here in Hawaii, but thanks for the job offer.

Have fun in Janesville - because it sure sounds like you need some!

I'll be sure to think of you while I vacation in Hong Kong and Singapore next week.

Signing off...

Because, Edgewater, it's people like me that remain to keep this town running. I'm hardly one of the working masses this town churns out...but I certainly know how to make use of them with my own business. Why, you another GM worker in need of a job soon? Maybe I can see what I can do for you.

JanesvilleHero - What is your education? How to you contribute to society? What separates your droning from the drones (your words, not mine) who work on the assembly line?

If you despise Janesville and its residents why don't you move out? Why are you so hypocritical?

And no NVgrf, jealously would hardly be my reason for my dislike towards this whole GM situation. Wait...ok, ya caught me. Ever since a little boy growing up in Janesville I dreamed to become another drone banging away on some assembly line and contributing little to this town except for the sales of the MANY local bars we have to support those workers.

Yes, v_sue1durin, I am an idiot. At least...to someone of your caliber I am. Join the other uneducated masses and become a follower to those who can't handle differing opinions on here. See...your opinions matter little to me. That's what sets me above most of you:-)

optimism-I loved your pun-it gave me a little optimism about still enjoying reading most of the posts found on GazettExtra. (Pun also intended)
Janesvillehero: You sure have a right to make fun of the name I chose to post under-it was meant to be an inoffensive lead-in to engage posters in conversation about their take on a story (whether or not we agree.) I, by the same token, will make fun of yours because, as you admit, it was meant to seperate yourself, to put yourself above "the quality of most to come out of this "town"." But, sadly, you have to give yourself the title "hero". Who does that?
No, I am not from GM, but I would say it proudly if I were.

I was there while they pulled the car out via tow truck. LOL!! It made a sound like a cork out of a bottle! Not to mention how hilarious it looked! Sorry, I can't help but see the humor in it all....but thank God nobody was hurt, that is what is important. It was my Monday night entertainment, and free!!!

And to Edgewater...yes, I DID read about those kids driving like fools the other day. Believe I left a comment on that. And with that situation, I feel little remorse for them, as well. Be young. Have fun. Act a fool and get hurt. You learn what responsibility for your actions means.

JanesvilleHero -

Of all the drunk driving arrests made in Rock County for the month of May- guess what - none of the drivers are over 55.

By the way - what was the big story recently of two people using a vehicle for a toy? I believe it happened in a parking lot and one was seriously injured? Next time why don't you put some thought into your comments.

"Just another reason why these people over 55 should not be driving anyways!!!" JanesvilleHERO that's why insurance companies charge higher rates to people under 30, to pay for all the accidents of those over 50! (NOT)
Wow with a mentality like that the next thing you are going to suggest is to kill off everyone over 55????

Janesvillezero: 55 isn't even retirement age yet-are you offering to give all those 55 and over a ride to work, or better yet, fund their unexpectedly early retirement? Because I never, ever have heard anyone go THAT far before. You must, of course, think they don't have the capacity to hold a job anymore, right?
How about the next accident you read about where the driver was 45? 35? or more likely 25?

JanesvilleHero? The humor comes from nobody getting hurt. It damaged the building and her pride and her car, nothing else. I am sure that if someone were hurt, the comments would be much different.

Just another reason why these people over 55 should not be driving anyways!!! She could have easily killed someone inside or simply rolled over some little kid walking outside. Glad to see so many here find it humorous. Though I shouldn't be surprised. This is the mentality of most around here.

first of all, nutty- quiero, ok
well, the funny thing is the general manager for this taco bell is out of town, on business, so all of her assistant managers are incharge, they had to call her husband because they couldn't get a hold of her. ANyway, yeah they can't legaly operate without a bathroom, nevermind that there is a hole in the wall! So Taco Ding Ding will be out of commision for a couple days, better get in line early at either milton Ave of Court St if you want your taco fix.

Taco Bell and McDonald's would be the last two places I would eat if I wasn't feeling well... Maybe she was just stopping there to use the rest room or to get food for someone else. Thank god no one was hurt. She was probably pretty embarrassed by the whole thing not to mention being questioned by the cops when you are already not feeling well.
