Edgerton principal recommends cuts
As expected, Edgerton High School Principal Jim Halberg recommended cutting one English teacher and one special education teacher in 2009-10 at tonight's school board meeting.
The high school has to cut $200,000 in staff that year because of dropping enrollment and a change in the state funding structure.
Cutting an English teacher position will also affect the Spanish department, because two teachers are certified to teach English and Spanish classes. The recommended cuts will increase class sizes in English and Spanish and reduce class offerings in those departments, Halberg said.
