Lake Mills native sets UW-Madison record
MADISON – Junior Amanda Hoeppner set a UW-Madison record in the hammer throw to lead the Badgers on the first day of the Wisconsin Twilight track and field meet on Friday.
The Lake Mills native won the invitational hammer with a school record throw of 187 feet. She broke a four-year record of 184-3 set by Courtney Bauer in 2004.
Hoeppner also won the invitational shot put with a personal best and regional qualifying throw of 49-2 ½. Her throw ranks third on the UW all-time list.
The second day of the decathlon at the Wisconsin Twilight begins at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday while open field events start at 2 p.m. Running events begin at 5 p.m.
