Evansville supports wind energy in survey
From the WCLO newsroom:
EVANSVILLE — If a survey is any indication, residents in the Evansville area could have a significant amount of their energy provided by the wind soon.
Project Developer for EcoEnergy, Curt Bjurlin, says Evansville Water and Light would like to place wind turbines west of the city. They would produce about 20 percent of the power needed in the area.
The survey indicated around 77 percent of those responding favor developing wind energy.
The project is still in the planning stages and a public hearing for affected residents is scheduled for May 29th.
The survey was commissioned by EcoEnergy.

Rock County Taxpayers for a Better Renewable Energy Plan (Better Plan, Rock County) has sent three emails to EcoEnergy's project co-ordinator Curt Bjurlin in an attempt to verify these survey results. We've asked for the name of the company conducting the survey and the wording of the questions asked. Mr. Bjurlin has not responded. We will be asking for help from Janesville Gazette step in and help verify the details of the story they reported as fact. The details of a public survey published as fact should be open record. There was a phone survey. But like it was noted earlier, Evansville does not have the land, Only the surrounding townships have the land.

I'd like to see the questions and the crosstabs on that survey as well as the planned site maps. Perhaps they haven't noticed that the Town of Union is west of Evansville and may have some siting concerns

In related news, in a recent survey by Evansville residents, I am the most wonderful person in the world. The survey was paid for by myself. i just love this kind of news reporting. It must be what we call professional.

I am sorry I never got a survey. Once again it looks like evansville is only 'surveying' a select few.
