UAW Local 95 election this week
JANESVILLE
With its largest unit struggling, United Auto Workers Local 95 will elect a new leader this week.
Mike Sheridan, Local 95 president for the last six years, is retiring from General Motors and is not seeking re-election. Sheridan continues to represent Janesville in the Wisconsin Assembly.
Kurt Kempf and Brad Dutcher are running for Local 95’s top spot. Balloting starts at 4:30 a.m. Tuesday and ends at 4:30 a.m. Wednesday.
The new leader will take over a union that was hit last week with news that GM will end second-shift production in Janesville in July. Hourly workers at the plant also are contemplating an attrition program. Local 95 also represents workers at Lear Corp. and LSI, two supplier also hit hard by the GM announcement.

That's bossLADY, not girl, diamondback. What you say about me may be true, and who knows, I may have "partied" with you. I still have not seen any information that contradicts last week's blogging about Jerry and the statements made by cheifoneintheknow. Can anyone out there do that???

Your union reps are elected to represent you on the floor and people are tired of hearing their reps say "their hands are tied". I don't think the requirement for representation is how many punches you have in your card and they surely don't write grievances at the hall. The requirement is that you are a dues paying member. After 10 months of negotiating for the local agreement, they are still silent. They hope to get re-elected then drop the bomb on the members.

Ram0003..I wonder what your union card looks like and how many punches you have. Do you attend the union meetings on a regular basis and voice your concerns? How has Dohner NOT spoken for you? John is not responsible for the company making the decision to shut down one shift. Can you imagine if the person in the shop chair position had that kind of power?

Ram0003..do you think that the other person who is running for shop chair, who by the way was removed from his appointed position due to conflicts with other employees is really the type of person you want?

This is like beating a dead horse for the GM workers, there ship has sailed, or sunk.

I know that it's Monday morning and that I'm being a nitpicker, but if I'm reading it properly, please consider pluralizing the word "supplier" in the last sentence.

What about Shop Chairman? I hope that position gets someone new. We need representation that will fight for us not just somebody to fill a seat at the negotiations.
