Janesville schools to offer girls defense course
From the WCLO newsroom:
A new class will be offered in the Janesville School District this fall.
The class will be limited to females over 16 and will include self defense. District Director of Student Services Karen Schulte tells WCLO’s Stan Milam Show Janesville police are partnering in the effort. Police Sergeant Brian Donahue heads up the Self Defense Awareness and Familiarization Exchange, or "SAFE" program. The goal is to avoid danger, and be able to escape it.
Schulte is looking forward to partnering with police in the effort.

When I was in high school (12 years ago!) self defense was a required part of the P.E. curriculum. Why is this not a part of EVERY high school's Phys Ed?

Great Idea. Money well spent for once. I wonder why the limit at 16 and older and not at 14 when they are freshman?

I think this is a GREAT addition! One of the things with the SAFE program is that it is specifically designed to be used in self-defense only, not to become bullies or to encourage physical violence when things don't go "your way".

Yes boys need this too, but the Girls need a different type of instruction duh.
