2 named to UW Board of Regents
MADISON -- Gov. Jim Doyle today announced the appointments of John Drew and Betty Womack to the UW System Board of Regents.
Womack's appointment is effective immediately. Drew's is effective June 1. Both terms expire May 1, 2014. The Governor also reappointed Danae Davis for a term to expire May 1, 2011, according to a news release from the governor's office.
Drew, 55, is a regional representative for the United Auto Workers in Southeast Wisconsin and is a former autoworker at the Chrysler plant in Kenosha, where he served as local union president
Drew previously worked as a part-time instructor at UW-Milwaukee and as adjunct faculty for the UW Extension's School for Workers. He served on the Governor’s Task Force for Educational Excellence. He and his wife, Lauren Baker, live in Milwaukee and have a son who attends UW-Madison.
Betty Womack is an assistant superintendent for the Kettle Moraine School District and is a former high school principal in the district.
Womack previously worked in the Nicolet Union High School District and as an adjunct professor at Cardinal Stritch University. She and her husband, the Rev. Rolen Womack, live in Brown Deer.
