Doyle says he's not drawing any lines in sand of budget debate
MADISON, Wis. (AP) - Gov. Jim Doyle says he's not drawing any lines in the sand when it comes to solving the state's $527 million budget shortfall.
But Doyle said Monday he doesn't like a key part of the budget plan that passed the Assembly and is up for a vote on Tuesday in the Senate. Both plans would use an accounting move to delay a $125 million payment to public schools.
The schools would still get the money, but it would be taken off the books for the current budget.
Doyle says the Assembly Republican plan also spends too much of the state's reserves.
Doyle supports a new tax on hospitals that Republicans oppose.

Of course Dolyey will leave the door open for budget talks. That just means he can and will raise taxes if he wants to.

If the state is half a bil in the hole, how can it have a reserve?

I would rather he spend the reserves instead of the under the table transfer of funds from the transportation budget to the DPI...!
Can anyone else besides me see PROPERTY OF DPI on Doyle's forehead?
