Milwaukee airport reopens
MILWAUKEE (AP) – Flights are taking off again at Milwaukee’s Mitchell International Airport on Saturday. Spokeswoman Pat Rowe says the first flights started leaving Saturday just before 10 a.m. She says about 200 people had to spend the night after the airport closed on Friday due to the heavy snow.
Just over 10 inches of snow fell Friday, meaning Milwaukee residents have officially experienced the second-snowiest winter on record.
At the airport, officials canceled all flights about 6:30 p.m. following continuous heavy snowfall. Rowe says some flights are still canceled because planes couldn’t get into Milwaukee on Friday night.
