MADISON, Wis. (AP) - An independent group monitoring the increasingly heated state Supreme Court race says a recent television ad denigrates judges and is unfair to one of the candidates.

The ad attacks Burnett County Circuit Judge Michael Gableman. The ad by the liberal Greater Wisconsin Committee says Gableman takes too long to decide cases and has a high number of his rulings overturned.

But the Wisconsin Judicial Campaign Integrity Committee said Monday that the ad unfairly demeans Gableman and denigrates all Wisconsin judges.

The monitoring committee says it agrees with Gableman's opponent, Supreme Court Justice Louis Butler, that outside groups ought not to be involved in the campaign.
