Weekend negotiations for Janesville teacher contracts
Negotiations between the Janesville Education Association and school board are the most contentious and difficult Superintendent Tom Evert and School Board negotiator Dennis Vechinsky have seen.
Evert's been involved with negotiations in three districts: Sheboygan, Beloit and Janesville. He says the negotiations are creating a rift and that's very unfortunate. Vechinsky says this is the most contentious bargaining he has ever been in. Vechinsky says in addition to his years teaching, it's the worst he's been involved in since the 1970s when he was at General Motors.
On Saturday, there will not be a trained mediator present at a negotiation session. The JEA was scheduled to meet with the school board in mediation on Monday, but Evert says the JEA has walked away from the mediation table.

I really don't like to blast you on this one Beth, BUT, is this entry about the weekend negotiations, or the fact that the negotiations are contentious and difficult? If it's the latter (as the story seems to read) then it's a terrible headline. Normally I wouldn't care, except that it's listed as "Latest News" on the gazetteextra.com homepage. SO... is this "news" or is it a blog entry? If it is news, why not a sentence describing why the teachers walked away from the table on Monday?

This note does not make much sense. It seems to indicate that there will be weekend negotiations, but in the body of the story there is only a brief mention of a Saturday session. Is there something missing from this 3 papargrah story?
