MADISON, Wis. (AP) - Groups that run issue ads within 60 days of an election would be subject to the same disclosure requirements as candidates under a bill that passed the Senate.

The bill would require them to reveal their funding sources and how much they spend.

There is a limited exemption for ads that are more general and don't directly mention a candidate or an election.

The bill that passed Thursday is a rewritten version of a proposal that passed the Senate earlier.

The new version includes changes made to conform to a U.S. Supreme Court ruling last year. The court struck down a federal ban on corporations and unions paying for political ads.
