Regents to look into affordability of UW education
UNDATED (AP) - The affordability of a state university education is on the agenda of the University of Wisconsin Board of Regents this week.
System spokesman David Giroux says the good news is that the university is reasonably affordable. But he says the bad news is that is doesn't offer much financial aid.
He says the regents will take a broad look Thursday at the UW System's tuition and financial aid programs.
Various strategies will be considered, including differential tuition, in which certain campuses or programs are given higher tuition to offset costs for new services or initiatives.
Giroux says boosting financial assistance for diverse and underserved communities will also be discussed.

It doesn't matter if the regents think it's affordable or not. We are going to have to pay higher tuition costs anyway because the state is millions of dollars in debt, and of course, why not charge the students more for tuition, because we have tens of thousands of extra dollars hanging around...

It probably is affordable if you are a regent.
