Rescued colt dies 'peacefully'
SOUTH RANGE – A 9-month-old colt that had been rescued from the brutal cold has died. The colt, named Windchill, died Friday night near Superior.
Windchill’s recovery had captured the attention of thousands of people over the last three weeks. The Tennessee Walking Horse-Appaloosa mix was rescued Feb. 9, a day when wind chills made it feel like 30 degrees below zero.
Kathi Davis and Jeff Tucker own Raindance Farms, where Windchill was being cared for. They say the colt died of “secondary complications” due to starvation.
Davis said Windchill was too broken to recover. Tucker said Windchill’s half-sisters, Sunday and Kisses, were with him when he died peacefully in his sleep.
