Janesville strip club manager arrested after prostitution investigation
JANESVILLE--Police Friday afternoon arrested Randy Peterson, the manager of Screamin’ MeeMees, on five counts of keeping a place of prostitution, a felony.
Peterson, 49, was arrested at his home, 3626 Falcon Ridge, Janesville, without incident, Janesville Police Chief Neil Mahan said.
The arrest is about the 18th since the strip club at 402 W. Delavan Drive came under investigation last summer, he said.
Police will seek the revocation of the strip club’s adult entertainment license.
A full story will appear online and in Saturday's Gazette.

Why is only one person arrested for this? Jim Halbach should also be arrested. And what about the girls (and I use the word "loosely"). Are they not responsible for their own actions?

Rockstars: You called rims ignorant. This seems to be a trend of your's. You wrongly called me stupid in another blog about the salesman story. What degree do you have that says you are smarter than everyone else? When I called you out on it you never even responded. So, you just go around calling people stupid and don't respond to them. Nice.
You also made a comment in a post below "And we all know that he would have never opened Screamin' Meemee's if the city would have just given him the liquor license he wanted."
Now, how intelligent is that? So, everyone that applies for a liquor license & does not get it should open up a strip club and have prostitution? There are reasons people are turned down for liquor licenses.
I warned you in the other story that you should be careful who you are calling stupid because it seems to me it is reversed.

We should all be grateful to Halbach because he donates money for the fireworks. I think not. Just because you do one good deed it does not make all the bad things disappear. It that was the case you'd have every criminal putting quarters in those red buckets at Chrismas time. Halbach is far from a hero of Janesville & people should not be acting like he is.

Wonders, you claim that "Jim has been trying to make changes.", well most of Janesville does not want his slimy "changes". Time to pack up and take his garbage down the road.

I KNOW jimmy and he is just as guilty as the rest and time he pays his dues as he knows exactly what went on, goes on, and continued to let it go on after the first arrest. As far as the fire works he is not the only one who supports them.A pimp in a movie went by REV. JOE are they related?

I think this is all great but as my name implies I have to wonder at it all. Jim is not evil he may be a little off than the rest of the world but evil does not come to mind when I think of him. If you follow what he has done for years, for the most part it is reaction to what the city says he can’t do. He wanted a sandwich place and to be able to serve beer, city said nope can’t have that Jim, so he does what he can do thumb his nose at the city. I am thinking because I don’t read the bible every day I am an evil person also, but that can be saved for something way down the road. The city of Janesville has a hierarchy of old money, and that old money, or they think they have money, does what it can to run this city. They are big fish in a very small pond, and just like the river that pond is about to get smaller, and they will have to find way to irritate that smaller fish once again. I was out of town for the flooding start, but how many of you went and helped sand bag? How many of the old money went and helped? Did any of you go to a local guy that had his business closed and say how can I give you a hand? I grew up in Janesville and it was not that many years ago when the little city would help anyone they could, the old money sat on a hill and watched. Today the city seems to be intent on watching itself die, and many are going to sit back and say told you so, rather than jump in and try to make changes. Jim has been trying to make changes, to wake the city up, to make you THINK rather than follow. Remember if you follow all you see is the one in front of you, try being a leader and see how that view changes.

Kenbjammen, thank you for being a clear voice of reason. You called this one. You'll draw a lot of ridicule from the knuckle dragging, mouth breathers who grew up in a culture that disdains decency but I sure appreciate your stand. May your house prosper.

No I refused to go to the fireworks because he supported it. Would I sent my kids to a concert outside a strip club if he sponsored it NO WAY. Mr. Halbach is a very evil man, and he knew what was going on. When everything comes out they will also find out that he tried to get CC tv internet ready in all the 'vip' rooms so he could watch what was going on. BTW bennetonf1 the victim in this crime is America!

mymaro, are you for real??? we should simply overlook illegal activity because he donated money to the fireworks?? That is simply stupid. Maybe Al Capone was a good guy also, because he gave a kid a nickle for carrying his luggage one day.

rims, please don't be ignorant. Of course he should not be allowed to break the laws. Unfortunately, the city of Janesville has been trying to get Halbach on anything they possibly can. Why? Because he's one of the city's most critical (and really, more accurate) voices. He's not afraid to speak and he shouldn't be. I think he likes his town. That's why he paid for fireworks. Unfortunately, the feeling is apparently not mutual.

rims, are you serious? Halbach doesnt know everything that goes on at that dump. its the least important place on his agenda. that is why the manager had full run of the joint. Halbach owns places in other, less whiner filled, towns and has NO problems. Maybe you can bury your head a little further in the sand.

Lets see he pays for fireworks so let him break what ever law he wants? Did not go to the fireworks and would rather have none, than have them and look the other way while some one breaks the law.
He and his manager broke the law and they knew it.
When I think about fireworks paid for by lap dances/prostitution that is just disgusting.
Does not make it seem like such a family event anymore.

Great comment, mymaro! I hope all you ungrateful residents that enjoyed the fireworks in 2007 know that Jim Halbach paid for them to make your 4th of July fun! And we all know that he would have never opened Screamin' Meemee's if the city would have just given him the liquor license he wanted.

do you whiners know Jim Halbach personally? I bet you enjoyed the fireworks last year that he payed for. There is a possibility he knew the "prostitution" was going on, but with everything he and his wife have going on, screemin meemees is the last thing they are worried about. Randy is the one that should be getting the criticism, hes the one in charge of that dump. and lets be honest here, the pathetic city of janesville is being a little overly ridiculous on the whole prostitution thing anyway. What they are charging these people with goes on at EVERY strip club whether you want to admit it or not.

So all those hours of video mean nothing? Doesn't anyone think its sick they recorded the goings on between two ' consenting' adults?
These people are not innocent, or ethical.
I don't think it's right that this guy is the only one who got arrested.
They can't claim they did not know, its on the video and they had hours of video at the club, at the manager's house, the owner's house.
I do think arresting him on FRIDAY was intentional, as he won't get out until after he has been arraigned on MONDAY>>>

Testerric there's nothing wrong with what you have said so ignore their ignorance, of course the city manager is hired. Do you really think the last one would have made it this long if he had to face an opponent? Do ,myou think he would have been re-elected if he ran against just about anyone that had qualifications to do the job? I don't, that said I have known Randy for many many years (probably close to 20) and I can assure you now that he has taken A fall he is going down for someone above him! I didn't want to think that the Halbachs could actually be guilty of this but now that I have seen Randy has been arrested it only leaves one possibility and I truely hope it comes out in the end Randy is way to good of A guy to go down for someone else no matter how much they say they will pay him!

I have considered running for the City Manager position, actually. When is the next election? I will run on the TESTERRIFFIC ticket. Yes, yes, it is a weird political affiliation, but it sounds "catchy". My exploratory committee has determined that, in a world of AMERICAN IDOL, SURVIVOR, and DANCING WITH MIDGETS IN SPANDEX, people don't care about issues. But they loves them the "catchy". I am a shoo-in Sheiffer. Be scared.

I heard that the city originally hired a consultant to determine the degrees of criminality at SCREEMIN' MEEMEES, and to offer his esteemed solutions to the Janesville Police Department. But sadly, the consultant was captured on one of the surveillance tapes being "consulted" in the bathroom by a consenting adult, and it was obvious that the consultant consented as well, and the consent was consulted by both the consultant and the consenter. But the consultant was eventually arrested. The consultant consulted the JPD, and suggested that he be let go, and the city consented, because he is a consultant.
