Trash schedule changes on July Fourth

If your trash collection day falls on Friday, the Fourth of July, put your trash and recycling out for pickup the next business day, Monday, July 7, in Janesville.

That's because in observance of Independence Day, most city facilities, including the Municipal Building, Police and Fire Administration, Water and Wastewater Utility offices, the senior center, the City Services Center and Hedberg Public Library will be closed Friday, July Fourth.

JTS regular routes also will not operate.

Well Bellagio, like I mentioned in my post, I have shelved my "napalm" proposal until Christmas. So the "White Trash Front Porch Hootenannys" that you most surely enjoy in the Fourth Ward will be safe until that sticky white stuff is falling from the sky once again come December. Luckily, after reading your post, I now realize that these coming 6 months will give me time to research your "air current" thesis, and to figure out a way to aim that burnt air toward Beloit, and NOT toward Janesville's North Side, where the elite meet to eat. Bellagio, thanks for the suggestion. You are a mensch. I am currently organizing a rally at a local elite northside business, to listen to and respond to angry opinions against my "napalm" comments. I encourage you to attend. And you will be glad to hear that, at MY rally, the standard North Side Janesville rule of "No Shirt...No Shoes...Mullet...No Service" will NOT be in effect.

SoSide4life, I have been talking about the process of decontaminating Janesville for years now, as you probably are well aware. I am kind of world-famous in Janesville for my opinions. NOW, we REALLY have to think about the costs of decontamination. So out of respect to the people who have been affected by the flooding, and the current need for focus on that subject, I will respectfully shelve my repeated proposals to the City Council to napalm the Fourth Ward until Christmas.

kaybmine, that also means they have extra stops on Monday then too. But why can't people just take it for what it is. They aren't working on the 4th, they have offered a solution.

First of all the trash and recycling drivers are route drivers. That means that they have certain stops that they are required to pick up each day. Mon - Fri. So, how are they suppose to pick up your trash/recycling on the day before your assigned pick up day if they already have other stops to do? Think about it.

I suppose the City could pick up trash and recycling on a holiday. This however leads to overtime and probably double time. Then people can thank you for higher taxes because you want holiday trash pickup.

Umm...Did ya just move to Janesville this city has never picked up trash a holiday so I'm pretty sure no "consultant" was hired to come up with a solution!!!

I heard that the city of Janesville paid a "consultant" to come up with this solution to the current Fourth of July "trash and recycling" dilemma. At first, the "consultant" was unsure of how to deal with such a curious civic malady. But once the "consultant" learned that both the library and bus services would be canceled, the "consultant" suggested that trash pick-up be "retarded" to the next business day. And then he was paid a handsome fee from the city. Once again, money well spent. In other news, when the "consultant" was asked again about his opinion of the possibility of a "roundabout" being the solution to the dangerous intersection of Wuthering Hills and Milwaukee St...well, the "consultant" just laughed and laughed and laughed, and said "Silly humans." And then, astonishingly, he vaporized into thin air...but when he vaporized into thin air, he looked left...then right...and then...left...as any sensible "consultant" would do before crossing into another dimension...
