Interstate 94 westbound to reopen after closure
MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- Gov. Jim Doyle says westbound Interstate 94 will reopen Thursday.
The roadway had been closed for more than two weeks due to flooding.
Doyle says in a news release that bridge inspectors from the state's Department of Transportation deemed the westbound bridges safe for travel.
The reopening means there will be two lanes going west.
But there will still be a one-lane segment going east for five miles between Johnson Creek and Lake Mills. That's because the DOT has to convert those lanes back to eastbound traffic. One had been used to go west.
That work is slated for Friday.
The state says the crossovers will be kept in case they're needed later.
