BELOIT -- The American Red Cross Disaster Relief Operation has opened a shelter in Aldrich Middle School, 1859 Northgate Drive.

The shelter is for anyone living in Beloit who has recently been displaced because of flooding, according to a Red Cross news release.

The Red Cross is also delivering food and other items with "emergency response vehicles" throughout the flooded areas of Newville, Janesville and Beloit. Health Services and mental health care teams will also be in the area to provide outreach, the news release states.

Deliveries include hygiene products, bug spray, heater meals, water, information on mildew cleanup, water purification and bleach. The ERVs will also provide hot meals and beverages for those affected by the flood.

For more information on the shelter, call the South Central Chapter of the American Red Cross, (608)754-4497.
