Guns, bones found in Lake Delton muck
LAKE DELTON (AP) -- All sorts of things are turning up in Lake Delton's muck now that it's empty.
People have been looking for valuables in the man-made lake created in the 1920s. It emptied into the Wisconsin River during severe flooding this month.
So far, four guns and two bones have been found.
Lake Delton Police Detective Janet Klipp says the bones are from an animal, but she wonders why someone would throw a gun in the lake.
Klipp says the guns looked old and covered in years of sediment.
Police are sending the guns to the state crime lab in Madison for analysis. They hope to lift the serial numbers and trace them to their original owner.

michellemt640....."Wow, everyone is so quick to judge."
That's the point. If smartypants wants to judge and start calling people names (s)he should at least be sure to get his facts straight.

I usually can ignore most of the spelling and grammar errors on these posts. I must say that it was hard to ignore sarah07's comment. I seriously couldn't even make out what the poster was trying to say. There were so many spelling errors. Usually you can just read through them. The grammar was so poor that the sentences, or lack there of, didn't even make sense. Wow! If the 07 stands for her graduation year, we have problems in our school system.

Wow. Truly, the first thing I thought when I heard "guns" was the disposal of a weapon used in a crime. Four of them and all just in there accidentally? Come on. I'm surprised they didn't find a body or two. How old was this lake anyway? My family and I were just saying the other night how upset criminals must be. What ARE the odds of the entire lake disappearing and uncovering something (or someone) you thought should have been hidden forever? Makes for interesting conversation to say the least.
On a lighter side, I'm glad the roads are all open to Ho Chunk once again:)

Ha...I'm going to school for crime scene investigations, and let me tell you....they are going to research this gun so hard, someone will be caught whether it was used to kill an animal or a person...or, just because they threw it in the water! Get ready for some hourly interrogations...lol

mytake4u, is that supposed to be an insult towards Beloit? I don't think that's really necessary, nor does it have any relevance whatsoever to this article. Keep your city bashing comments to yourself.

The homes were washed into the Wisconsin river as the lake was draining out. So no, the contents of the houses are not in the lake.

Didn't homes get washed away into that lake? Isn't it possible that the guns were in a home, kept on display on a gun rack above a fireplace or something?

Barring someone concealing the gun illegally and mistakenly dropping it into the lake while fishing or possibly using it for fishing, which would be completely idiotic and cartoonish, it’s a safe bet these guns are there for other reasons. I can imagine someone at home reading this story and yelling, “FUUUUDDDDDDGGGGE what are the odds and entire lake would empty out!”?

I agree frusion and michellemt640. There is an option to preview your post before posting it. It is much easier to read a post if some extra time has been taken to make sure it is understandable. And no, this is not the spelling and grammar police. If someone wants others to take their comments seriously, then they need to proofread.

If you people would have read this correctly, they didn't say anything about the guns being involved with a crime. They are simply sending them to the crime lab so they can get some numbers off of it and then possibly return the guns to their owner if they are still around. Its unbelievable how quick the society is to judge. Maybe the guns were used in a crime, maybe they weren't. Maybe the guns were stolen from an innocent person.

You guys slay me. To find a gun in a lake could be simply that it or they fell from a duck hunters boat, or boats for that matter. Maybe a little les CSI television and a little more real life outdoors would do you some good

I can not believe that a police detective would go on record saying she wonders why someone would throw a gun in the lake. HELLO!!! maybe her boss needs to check out the school she went to, just to be sure she went. WOW and these people are sworn to protect us, not sure if I feel better about that after this article.
