From Beloit Memorial Hospital:

BELOIT--Due to the Rock River flooding at Riverside Park, the city has changed the location of the first free concert at Harry’s Place on Friday. The new location will be at Telfer Park- Snapper’s Field at 2100 Cranston Road, Beloit. The concert will still start at 7 p.m. with the Rhythm Rockets Rhythm and Blues band.

Beloit Memorial Hospital, the sponsor for the first concert, will continue to host its health fair an hour before the concert begins. The health fair will be located at the entrance of the baseball park and will include free chair massages, blood pressure screenings, nutrition tips, healthy tips for seniors, kids summer safety activities, free refreshments and more.

“Although we are very sorry to see the beautiful location at the Harry Moore Pavilion not available to everyone, we feel the Pohlman Field- Snapper Stadium will be a great alternative,” said Sarah Starmer, hospital spokeswoman. “The city and Friends of Riverfront have worked hard to find this new location, which will be comfortable for everyone. Attendees can sit in the stadium bleachers now and no longer need to bring their lawn chairs. We hope everyone will still plan to attend this Beloit tradition and enjoy the dancing on the deck and free concert.”

The Health Fair will open at 6 p.m. and will go to 7:30 p.m. Telfer Park and the Snappers Stadium is located at 2100 Cranston Rd., ¼ mile east of the Cranston Road and Prairie Road intersection in Beloit. If weather is inclement on Friday afternoon, the concert may be located inside the Telfer Park arena, rather than at the baseball field where cover is available.

There are no plans to either cancel or move Riverfest at this time. Water is over the banks in some portions of Riverside Park but by far most of the park is still dry and over the next 3 weeks, the waters should recede back to more normal levels.
.
Boat traffic is another question as the river may still be closed to boating then. Boaters have always been a fixture at Riverfest.
