BELOIT TOWNSHIP— Sewer lift stations in the Burwood Park area are working at full capacity so the department of public works is advising residents to watch for possible sewer backups in their homes.

Also, Alliant Energy continues to monitor gas and electrical problems daily and will disconnect services when necessary. Residents with water levels getting near major appliance or their electrical service should call Alliant at 1-800-862-6261 or the Emergency Operations Center at (608) 364-2996.

More homes and businesses, than 50 buildings already affected by flooding, will be impacted this week as the water level on the Rock River goes up in the town of Beloit, according to Rich Tippelt, public information officer at the town of Beloit Fire Department.

Predictions are the water will rise another foot this week before receding, Tippelt said.

Residents and volunteers continue filling and stacking sand bags in flooded areas that include 14 homes and three businesses.
