Officials respond to man-in-river report

Janesville police and fire departments responded to Traxler Park at about 9 p.m. Monday, where somebody reportedly saw a man in a canoe on the river near the north boat launch, according to Rock County Dispatch.

Emergency workers later found the man on shore.

There was report of a man down and unconscious for 2 hours at Gibbs Lake.

If we do have a dam break and a downtown is completely flooded, I would think it's a cinch that Rock County would be added. As it is, I suppose there's a non-zero chance we won't get that federal aid. But given the spending the city and county are throwing at this it's probably more likely that we will, and that will in turn trigger the ability of individuals to apply for assistance.

I heard that cops and firefighters were at the centerway bridge around 9 because they found an empty canoe

I understand there is a lot of red tape with determining a disaster area. Yet, when does Rock County become a disaster area? Do we become a disaster when the Indianford dam breaks through?

I just can't believe how crazy people are!!!!! Just today I saw a person stopped on Memorial Bridge getting out to take pictures, come on people I know that most of us have never seen water like this but think a minute before you do something that puts others lives in danger!!!!!!!!!
