From the Rock County Sheriff's Office:

Due to the recent heavy rains, extensive flooding, swift currents and hidden debris on both the Rock and Sugar Rivers, the Rock County Sheriff’s Office and Department of Public Works have closed all portions of these waterways throughout Rock County. All boat launches along both bodies of water will remain closed until further notice.

Both rivers present extremely dangerous safety hazards and should be avoided at all costs. The Rock County Sheriff’s Office will only be on the river for emergency evacuation and rescue calls, as navigation on these bodies of water has proven to be extremely difficult.

Citizens are also urged to stay out of flooded areas and avoid fishing and swimming off the banks of these waters as currents and conditions can change at anytime. While this order is in effect, citizens should contact the Rock County Communications Center to report anybody on these waters due to the serious health and public safety risks.

Someone should tell these people fishing by what was the Indianford Dam to realize how silly (a nicer word for what I really think of them) they are. They can't be blind to how fast that current is going. If they accidentally fall in they are in trouble and then it is up to someone else to try to safe them.
And have they not heard about the raw sewage in the river. Do they really want a fish dinner that badly - HELLO !!
I saw on the electronic billboard on Milton Ave. by Burger King that there is high water/flash flood warning. They should also include a public service announcement that there is raw sewage/bacteria in the water and for people to stay out & away from the water.
It would be nice if they just left it on that screen rather than quickly flashing to another ad to reroof your house, build a sunroom or buy an appliance. (On a sidenote I think these electronic billboards are distracting and were just a clever way for the billboard companies to make more money. Are they going to pay for the people that will probably be rear ended by drivers behind them because they are reading 10 things on the billboard rather than paying attention to the road?)
