UPDATED: Power restored in Janesville
JANESVILLE--Power has been restored after a major outage left customers in downtown and around Milton Avenue without power today.
The first outage hit at 11:30 a.m. when a tree fell on a distribution line, taking down power in downtown and the northwest part of the city, an Alliant Energy spokesman said. Power was restored by 12:41 p.m.
A second outage, which officials believe is not related to the first, happened at about the same time when two fuses blew. That outage affected the Milton Avenue-Black Bridge Road-Kennedy Road area.
The outages are not believed to be related to the flooding.

the residents and businesses right on the river are under mandatory evacuation. from what i understand is that the businesses are forced to remain closed for at least 3-5 days.
please pray for them! for the small businesses, like them or not, this is a straw that could break their camels' backs.

michelle - yes, a parade of sorts. The MDA Tub Run was today. Hundreds, if not thousands of motorcycles left Kutter Harley Davidson at noon and proceeded through town on N Pontiac Drive to head out of town on Ruger Avenue.
I was halfway through a relaxing massage at the Spa at Riverfront when the power went out. That sucked...but what can you do? :-)
