JANESVILLE -- Former Janesville School Board member Amy Rashkin said today she wants to put to rest a controversy that has swirled around her.

Rashkin said she will not apply for a proposed staff-development position with the district, if that position is created.

Rashkin told fellow board members May 27 that she was interested in the half-time administrative position that Superintendent Tom Evert was proposing. She said she would resign if she decided to apply for it. Board member Tim Cullen chastised Evert at the same meeting for putting the board in the position of creating a position that one of its members—or former members—might get.

Rashkin resigned May 30, saying she was still interested in the position. Today, she contacted The Janesville Gazette and said she is no longer interested and hopes her statement puts the matter to rest.

A school board committee on Monday directed Evert to come up with a plan for getting the job done without spending additional tax dollars.

There was. I think it was called an election.

Well, clearly she couldn't seek the job while on the board, but even if she had gotten the job after her resignation it would have looked too hinky or cutesy even if no laws were broken.
.
I am concerned that the board is in such a state of disarray and I don't think the loss of two good members in a short time is a positive sign. There needs to be some air clearing after all of this.

Agree with csense she seems prone to quick decisions not clearly thought out. Best she's no longer on the board.

Come on . . . does she need a daisy here? Pluck off the petals - "I want the job; I don't want the job . . . " A lot of bruhaha over nothing. I for one am glad she is off the board.
