MINOCQUA — A fisherman’s body was recovered from Lake Tomahawk a day after his empty boat was seen motoring in circles.

The Oneida County Sheriff Department said the body of 62-year-old James Root Sr. of Madison was found by divers at around 3:20 p.m. Friday.

Officials said the man had been seen fishing in the boat Thursday before he was gone and the unoccupied boat was still running. Witnesses called 911.

The search had been suspended Thursday night because of thunderstorms in the area. It resumed Friday. An autopsy was scheduled for today.
