Firefighters from three fire departments responded to 2474 S. Dewey Ave. in Beloit Township around 11:30 p.m. Wednesday when they found smoke and flames in a split-level home.

One occupant, of the house, was pulled to safety by firefighters and transported to Beloit Memorial, but died there.

A second victim was found in the house later.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation and a state fire marshal will report to the scene at 8 a.m. today. Damage estimates have not been determined.
