-- Steve Schroeder, assistant principal at Parker High.
Evert said he expects to make his selection by Thursday. Evert’s recommendation goes to the school board for final decision when the board meets on Tuesday, June 10.

best4kids: the other Steve (Schroeder) also has a Ph.D.
.
And, no, I am not saying that the candidate with a Ph.D. should jump to the front of the line. However, I do feel it should be a prequisite to even apply for an administration position such as a principal in the high school setting.

Steve Salerno HAS a Ph.D. He is Dr. Steve Salerno. So if you believe that the district should adopt that policy, are you then saying that Dr. Salerno should automatically be chosen?

If Steve (Schroeder) doesn't get the position, I hope he evaluates looking towards other horizons to further his career in the capacity to which he deserves and has worked hard towards.
.
It is of my personal opinion that the district should adopt the policy that administrators have a Ph.D.

Although I am sure all three are excellent people, I believe the bottom line comes down to who understands Parker High School and it's students and staff the best, and who has most earned this promotion.
That is certainly how the business world usually works and how educational hiring and promotion should work.
Also, one would assume that the Parker staff has been surveyed regarding their preference. I would think that is certainly how professionals should be treated if their input is valued at all.

NVgrf you've been gone from Parker too long. Eight years ago I would have agreed with your post regarding Steve Schroeder, but recent history shows Dr. Schroeder in a different light. He's not the leader you describe. I'm just glad my youngest granddaughter only has a year left and I will be done with the JSD for good.

It's pretty obvious that Studor Group principles are not being followed in the hiring process for a Parker principal.

personally having Mr. Mark Coombs as my 8th grade homeroom teacher, I KNOW how he cares about his students. He motivated my homeroom to win a lot of the contest that we're held by different groups at Edison, like the ECHO food drive by raising collecting 600+ items of food, and winning a donation contest for a charity. He truly is the type of guy that would stop and help a student if they dropped their books, or fell.
As a senior graduating on Friday,I cannot recall seeing Dr. Schroeder in the past four years go out on a limb for students, besides the ones who have a great impact on a winning sports team.
I've seen two students get into a fight, both get tickets and one getting to wrestle the next day. I haven't really seen how he cares for ALL of his students. Yes, he's a great AP and can discipline, and a smart Athletic Director, but if he IS going to be picked, wouldn't he have a lot on his plate. Running a school, athletics and a lot more of the things at ESC?

I have a son that graduated from Parker and one that goes to Parker now and I really think that Steve Schroder is a great man for the job. I also think that Steve Salerno is a great person for the job. I think that Steve Salerno would make a great principal because he is great at Marshall Middle School. He is wonderful with the kids and listen to everything that say and he is a real caring person when it comes to the school he is principal at. I think that Mr. Schroeder is a great person , but I think Steve Salerno is a better pick for this job. Steve Salerno always listens to everything that others have to say in the building and to parents and I think that's what's important here. Good luck to all the finalists and to Mr. Tom Evert in making his recommendations.

There should be no doubt here. Steve Schroeder has given years of unmatched service to Parker. He is a true Viking who cares deeply about what is best for students. There is no doubt about his worth as a top flight administrator. It would be a travesty if he were not named Parker's new principal.
