The trials for a man charged with beating to death one of his twin infant sons and injuring the other have been delayed.

Casey Shelton, 32, Brodhead, faces one count of first-degree reckless homicide and two counts of child abuse.

He’s accused of shaking 2-month-old Christopher Shelton and causing his head to hit an unknown object Feb. 28, 2007.

Court records say that Shelton also injured the boy’s twin brother.

He was scheduled for trial in August, but Green County Circuit Court Judge James Beer has now set the trial on the homicide charge for Jan. 12 to allow Shelton’s attorney more time to interview witnesses.

The trial on the abuse charges is set for Feb. 4.

Shelton faces up to 76 years in prison and up to $35,000 in fines, if convicted.

I feel bad for everyone involved. Especially Casey. He is being accused of killing his son and he has missed all this time with his other son. It's funny how one person says something and that is automatically true no matter what the truth is. Great system. Keep up the good work!
