Pulaski fire chief killed

PULASKI, Wis. (AP) — Brown County Medical Examiner Al Klimek says Pulaski Tri-County Fire Chief Frank Wichlacz has been killed in an accident at the fire station. Pulaski police are planning a news conference for 2:30 p.m. They have released no other information on the accident that happened Wednesday morning. Wichlacz belonged to the volunteer fire department for more than 50 years and had been chief for more than 20 years. He was named a Green Bay Press-Gazette Everyday Hero in December, when he was 75. The fire department had 39 firefighters in 2007.

Another firefighter was moving his pickup and backed into a bay door, behind which Chief Wichlacz was walking. He was crushed between the door and a tanker.
