City approves cell tower proposal

JANESVILLE--The plan commission on Monday approved a conditional-use permit for a proposed 100-foot cell phone tower at the Rock County 4-H Fairgrounds.

Cricket Wireless and Global Tower Partners propose a 100-foot tower in the middle of the fairgrounds. The tower would look like a tall flagpole.

The Rock County Board will need to approve a lease with the tower companies before the project can move forward.

I believe this tower is 20 foot shorter, and they are going to stick a flag on it - that makes all the difference in the world. Oh yeah, it is going on the fairgrounds, which most people, except those who live next to it, only visit once or maybe twice a year. The last attempt to place one would have been between a school and the Interstate, so many locals would have been reminded on a daily basis that technology has it's price.

I had Global towers just put up a bigger tower on my property last Oct of 2007.
4634 E. Case dr. In Janesville.
What a nightmare they caused me.
I think they hit almost every tree on my property. Dump trucks, cement trucks, skidsteers, big digger trucks. There are ruts
all over my property.
And truck loads of litter...
I hope you know what your in for.!!!
Litter, soda cans, cig butts, parts to build the tower, straws. You name it I had it all over the place.

What's different this time that caused the deal to fall through last time? There was controversy last time, but I don't see it this time. Why is that? Have those people moved?

Thank God for the tower. Now, hopefully Sprint will pick it. I have an unusually weak signal where I live now, which is just a block from the 4H grounds.
