Taxpayers in Wisconsin flood areas get extension
MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Taxpayers in 30 counties declared disaster areas will have a little bit longer to file taxes that were originally due by Aug. 13.
The Internal Revenue Service granted an extension to Aug. 29.
It is available to taxpayers in the federal disaster areas for tax return and report filing, tax payment and other deadline-sensitive actions. It applies to individual income, corporate franchise or income, and sales and use tax returns.
Affected taxpayers include those who live or whose place of business is in the disaster area. It also covers those whose tax records, or the offices of their tax preparers, are in the affected counties.
Relief workers affiliated with a recognized government or philanthropic organization also are covered.
