Ill. man tinkering with speaker finds loot in Beloit
BELOIT, Wis. (AP) — An Illinois woman and her son-in-law have discovered thousands of dollars hidden after a 2004 bank robbery in Wisconsin.
Sixty-year-old Carol Markin of South Beloit, Illinois, was cleaning an empty apartment for her employer when she found a speaker box. Her son-in-law, 31-year-old Travis Gosa, says Markin’s employer gave her permission to take the box home, which she gave to him.
Gosa says he noticed a rattle and opened the box. He found dye-covered bills and a gun inside.
Beloit police say they believe the money is from a June 2004 robbery at the First Federal Bank.
Officers back then, followed the robber to the area where Markin was cleaning the apartment. They didn’t find the loot, but they later tracked down the robber.
Dwellie Sheko of Glenwood, Illinois, was sentenced in 2005 to five years and three months in prison for the robbery and ordered to pay back $7,995.

Yes there is still honest people out there and i applaud their honesty........... It had nothing to do with the dye as they had a gun they could of kept to.. Only a dishonest person or criminal mind would have kept the money and the gun. As to find it with the dye shows it was a robbery.

If you saw the pictures of the money in the speaker on the news...it clearly showed that some of the money was covered in red dye, not all of it. They could have burned the money with the dye and kept the rest, but they didn't.

I hope they would have still turned in the money had the bills not been dye covered.

People of honor and integrity! Something very rare in this world today..... I know there a more out there. We need to find them and put them in leadership positions in this country. We have no sense of integrity or character in that sector.
