An up-and-coming rock band with a Janesville connection is scheduled to appear on tonight’s “Late Show with David Letterman.”

The band is The Hold Steady. The band’s lead guitarist is Tad Kubler, a 1991 graduate of Craig High School.

The Hold Steady has shared the stage with the likes of the Rolling Stones and Bruce Springsteen. Letterman’s guests tonight will include another rock great, Neil Young.

The band’s new CD, “Stay Positive,” was just released. The Hold Steady is scheduled to perform Saturday at Chicago’s Pitchfork Music Festival and Monday at the Majestic Theater in Madison.

Congratulations Tad! I'm so proud of you! I thought I had heard that you were a photographer, why didn't I hear about your band?

I have known Tad since he was three. We used to sit and talk about music back then. He loved AC/DC but thought the words were "Dirty Deeds and thunder cheeks."

Matt told me about David Letterman, but I fell asleep at 11:15 p.m. and woke up at 11:35. Did anyone tape it?

Boy, if you become really famous I could tell everyone about our summer days with Deucer etc.

How's the Bodeman?
Love you Bud!

Tad was one of a select few rock stars that were featured in Playboy Magazine last year in an article on how rock stars lost their virginity!

Tad and his local Janesville band with Chad Rabe and Jason Pettit played outdoors at my house on July 4th in the early 90's. The cops came three times to quite them down, but the band played on, till 11pm. Turns out there was no "noise" ordinance in Janesville at the time.

I wish Tad and the band luck always and still hope to get The Hold Steady at The Back Bar someday.

Congrats guys! I know all about you from the wonderful time I spent with Tad's grandmother, she thought the world of all of you. She always looked forward to seeing you on TV or reading about you in the paper--nothing was better than when the band came to Janesville to visit with her! Rock on!
