Congressman Ryan says McCain 'definitely underdog'
MADISON, Wis. (AP) - Republican Congressman Paul Ryan of Wisconsin says presidential candidate John McCain is definitely the underdog'' in the race against Democrat Barack Obama.
Ryan says McCain probably will remain the underdog throughout the race.
Ryan's comments in an interview with The Associated Press come a day before McCain is to campaign in Hudson. Two polls released last month said McCain is trailing Obama by 13 points in Wisconsin.
Ryan says Obama's campaign is exciting but he believes voters will come around to McCain once they more closely examine the issues.
A 38-year-old congressman from Janesville, Ryan has been mentioned as a possible vice presidential candidate for McCain. Ryan said Thursday he hasn't talked to McCain about it, and he doesn't take the talk seriously.

Just like a Republican Party eater, you my friend do the Party thing. You accuse me of ignorant grammar, low intelligence, being socialist, you ask me to leave my Country, you tell me other countries don't have the right to accuse Rumsfeld of Torture, because they are protecting their citizens. You say that volunteers can die for an Unnecessary War because they choose to do so. I know Nam too. This is the tarnished Republican Defense Line. It won't work this year, just as it didn't work in 2006. This Republican Party is not the Republican Party I knew years ago. This Republican Party is corrupt and deceptive. This is Bushes War, he only used the evidence that was favorable to his goal. Yes I know about Saddam's pretending to have WMD, that was his Power play to maintain fear of him in his region. The CIA letter written by Tenet and McLaughlin to Bush and Graham just prior to Bushes speech in Oct, 2002 said that Saddam was not an imminent treat to the US, unless the US would attack him then he would react in Self Defense. I didn't write this last sentence Tenet and Mc Laughlin did.

Our Country would be much better off if folks would try to figure out what has really happen in the last seven and a half years. I truly believe now that loyality to a Party Rep or Dem put a voter at a disadvantage. If your Republican must you always believe what their Pundits say? Do you ever question the reliableity of what you hear or Read in you News paper. Can you really Reliy on someone elses opinion in the Press? I guess it depends who owns the Press and what their agenda is. I don't think so. Our Country has never been in such bad shape. Its is time voters decide for them selves what is necessary to do next. I voted for Bush twice and now cry for the men and women who have died for Bushes gut feeeling to go to this unnecessary War. I cry for the lost limbs, the inablity to live a normal life because, the major injury from Iraq is brain damage from the IEDS,for the scars of their disfiguring burns, for their emotional scars, that will perhaps never heal. I apoligise for the malice to the Iraqi people cause over 100 thousand of them have died. I feel responsible cause I voted for Bush Twice. My vote helped him to do what he has done. The rest of my votes will be informed VOTES

What did you say. Well my Friend as Mc Cain says. Prove War Crimes. What have you read? Lets see, Germany, France, Canada, all have cases against Rumsfeld. Have you ever read anything from Amnesty International? Did you know about the Supreme Courts recent ruling? I think you have allowed the kool aide to fill you up. I base what I say on FACTS. I read your reply and see only emotion with no thought behind it. A reasonable person reads and informs him or her self. People that just listen to Fox are not informed. You have taken the Propaganda for Truth. Have you read Scotts Book "What Happen". Do you watch C- Span. Did you recently see the Judiciary Senate Commitee quote the book "Torture Teams" by P. Sands. Both Rep and Dems questioning the Lawyers Addington for Cheney, Yoo for Bushs, Hayes for Rumfeld. Have you ever read the initial document written By Beaver the Lawyer whose case they used to justify their options to use Torture. Perhaps C- Span isn't reliable as FOX News for you.. Yes I was a Republican. Now an Independent since 2006. Voted my first straight Dem ticket, cause I could no longer tolerate the deceit. Some of us follow . Some of us plow our way through information to find the reasonable answer

Whatdid you say.. You are wrong I was a Republican most of my life in 2006 I switched to Independent. The DECEPTION woke me up and guess I read. Do You? I doubt it. You want to see evidence of War Crimes go to Amnesty International, Vincent Buloisi Book 'THE PROSECUTION OF GEORGE BUSH FOR MURDER', ''TORTURE TEAMS" BY PHILIPI SANDS a book the Senate Judicary committe read and had a hearing on C-Span. I guess the Senate is not a good enough reference for you.

Paul Ryan has supported this Illegal War of Bushes and no longer deserves to be in office. The only under dog here is the American People that have and continue to suffer from Bush and Ryan's policy. Ryan voted with Bush 95 percent of the time. Ryan has no conscience and cares less for his constituents.

War Crimes how about Lies and Praproganda. Read the New Book "The Proscecution of George W. Bush for Murder" written by a famous Lawyer and best selling Author. Bushes Lied Us into this Unnecessary War.. He used his own evidence that Sadam was an immenent danger. The information given to him by other Countries and the CIA that disputed this was not shown to the Public or the Congress. Powells presentation before the UN was a distorion of the FACTS. None of it was proven TRUE. Read "Torture Team" by Philippe Sands The Judicary Commitee read it and had a hearing on C-span. George Bush used the Law to twist the rights of the Constitution and the Supreme Court just recently has told him and the Lawyers involved so. They will not Impeach Bush, but after he leaves office many that believe in the Rule of Law will hold Bush accountable for his Lies and Propaganda. Ryan has been a puppet for George Bush, voted with him 95 percent of the time. Ryan is not the kind of Representative I am willing to vote for. His voting decisions have not reflected the will of his constuients. The Pharmarcy Corporations are lining his pockets. I am anxious to find out how he voted today on the Medicare Bill that Bush had vetoed. George Bushes veto was again over rulled today in the Senate and the House.

billnewbie,
I'm pretty sure that I don't agree with you politically, but your most recent post is dead on. I wish more people felt this way.

Actually you can discriminate based on age for the office of President. The candidate has to be at least 35 years old.

petcat,
McCain is not too old. Reagan was almost 70 when he first became President. John McCain is currently 71. The same holds true for the office of President as any other job: you can not discriminate based on age.
Where is your evidence that his mind is slipping away from him? Everything was fine after his recent medical evaluation.

I would be interested to see this list of "war crimes" and the details of this self-pardoning.
Again, mischaracterizing a difference of opinion on what should be policy as a crime is just the kind of rhetoric that is poisoning the politics of this country.
Unless we can get beyond that kind of partisanship, our problems will not be solved.

"What a country" to quote Yakov Smirnoff.
At one time, not so long ago, impeachment was reserved for those who committed "high crimes and misdemeanors or treason". Now if a President implements a policy that becomes unpopular, some demand impeachment regardless of what the constitution says.
At one time a lie was defined as a distortion of the truth or a failure to tell the truth. Now if the President believed incorrect information and acted upon it, some call him a liar because of what he should have known whether or not he could have known.
In 1941 we were attacked by Japan and one of the President's reactions was to confine Americans of Japanese ancestry in internment camps, which was later found to be unconstitutional. Though we all recognize that was the wrong thing to do, we do not condemn that President because it was a time of great peril to the country and his motives were good. On 9-11-2001 a well organized group killed thousands of civilians in a dishonorable attack on unsuspecting civilians within our borders and one of the President's reactions is to eavesdrop on foreign phone calls to known sympathizers of that avowed enemy to disrupt their future efforts and some condemn him as a law breaker and a civil rights violator with evil intentions.
And now, with all this inflammatory rhetoric being spewed about, we are to believe that a President Obama will heal all wounds and dry all eyes. Obama may think he can change the way things are, but he will find it nearly impossible to control the retribution planned by many in Congress. And retribution, once taken, is owed.

whatdidyousay: Lovely how you manage to seperate the entire blog into dem/rep. No one completely agrees with either side.
Saying that Bush is totally innocent is like saying that LBJ was in Vietnam. Or that the Dems have fulfilled all of those promises they made to get control of the house in November. The one thing both sides has in common is that they both lie.
Now, does anyone think that Ryan is going to be the VP candidate? Does he have a strong enough economic background? He's definitley young enough, something McCain could certainly use in a running mate.

And that Congress approval number would skyrocket if the President wouldn't threaten to veto everything or if Congress would just impeach the moron over this whole war crap.

That's a pretty obvious observation. What Ryan doesn't say is that McCain is the underdog because of extremism and mismanagement by Republicans. Bush is approaching the most unpopular presidency in history, and McCain hasn't distanced himself from Bush policies -- particularly the most important one, Iraq. In fact, he seems to be proposing more of the same.

Great point, Sannio. WOW. right now Bush is signing FISA. Lovely.
I think it's important to note that this issue is a bipartisan effort to remove the fourth amendment.
On a positive note, at least the right and left can agree on something...

Let's talk about a real issue with these guys for a moment. H.R. 6304: FISA Amendments Act of 2008. Ryan and Obama voted Yea, and McCain abstained. All three feel that the 4th amendment of our Constitution, that prohibits unwarranted search and seizure, isn't worth keeping. They all believe it's alright for the president to to break the law, and when he's found out to simply change the law. Neither presidential candidate gets my vote nor does Ryan. When I vote I will write in "No good choices", and scratch each of their names off the ballot with the felt tipped marker until my fingers are bloody.

I don't doubt he's smart. I just don't agree with his views on Iraq, Student Financial Aid (He voted to raise interest rates on our loans), and FISA.

I seriously doubt that anyone can beat Paul Ryan at this point in his career. I'm not saying it won't happen in the future but he's a stand up guy and tries very hard. He is incredibly smart and I think he will be a huge asset as he moves up the political chain.
