Woman leads police on six-mile chase
A Janesville driver led police on a six-mile chase after forcing a Rock County sheriff's deputy off the road Friday morning.
A deputy tried to stop a green Ford Taurus at 2:30 a.m. Friday on Highway 51 north of Consolidated School Road, Fulton Township, according to a news release from the Rock County Sheriff's Office. The car, driven by Wendy L. Romack, 36, Janesville, had been reported stolen by the Dane County Sheriff's Office, the release said.
According to the release:
The vehicle pulled into the deputy's lane, forcing the deputy to drive his vehicle off the road and into a ditch. The Taurus did not yield to the deputy's lights and siren, continuing north into Edgerton, where Edgerton police assisted the pursuit. The car eventually changed directions and pulled onto Fulton Town Hall Road after driving over stop sticks on Highway 51. Romack tried to flee on foot, but was arrested on charges of driving a stolen vehicle, knowingly fleeing an officer, drunken driving and other charges.
The chase lasted 6.4 miles and eight minutes, the release said.

Marymac are you trying to blame this on a lack of public transportation?
I checked two other posts on this story from the Gazette and neither one had her mug shot.

I was listening to the scanner, too, but didn't stay up much past the "large gathering of people with knives and guns" incident.

blank, this is the news blog (right column). There are never photos in the news blog, but for some reason, people always ask. Presumably the Gazette will have a story under Local News tomorrow (left column, a bit lower). If they have a mug shot that is where it will appear.

Where is the mug shot? Please show everyone what she looks like so they are aware of criminals like her in our area. I want to know she will never get behind the wheel of a car again. It could have been anyone who she tried to run over and they may have been killed. We need people like this off our roads.

She had an open bench warrant for theft and obstructing. The subject is, shall I say, familiar with the criminal justice system, including four (4) convictions for operating with a revoked license as well as OWI and possession.
.
I guess your average upstanding citizen doesn't have the same reason to flee.

Note To Self: When driving a stolen vehicle at 2:30 in the morning, do not cut off a police car forcing it into the ditch. I draws undo attention to Self. :)
