Fire doused in abandoned Janesville building
The Janesville Fire Department responded to a fire in the 3700 block of Milwaukee Street shortly after 8 p.m.
Flames were shooting out of the windows of the abandoned brick home when firefighters arrived, but they quickly doused them, said Capt. Mike Gang with the fire department.
Janesville police blocked Milwaukee Street between Wright Road and Shannon Drive while firefighters put out the fire.

I live very close to where this house is and I drive by there at least twice a day. There is no way someone has been living there for the last several months. Windows have been broken out and the curtains have been blowing in the wind. There used to be lights on in there, but I think whomever was living there moved out. It looked like a parking lot for pickup trucks and trailers to me. Also the lot that it sits on appears to be for sale. Sounds pretty fishy to me. Although It would be nice if someone redeveloped the land there.

Well, if it's a rental property somebody could have moved out Tuesday (the first of the month) and it could easily be vacant.
.
Anyway, as a brick farmhouse, if it's structurally sound following the fire it would be good to get it improved. There are lots of old farmhouses absorbed quite well into residential neighborhoods in Janesville.

I’m glad nobody was hurt. Honestly, I don’t care what the cause was; I just hope they tear that eye sore down. The building has looked un-kept and run down for years. The owners have cleaned it up a bit recently, but it still looks bad. Sorry if that offends anyone, but I know I’m not the only one who feels that way.

Awful lot of furniture on the lawn for an
"abandoned" house. I see cars coming and going there all the time.

Abandoned? That's funny. I live in that area and I've been seeing vehicles there quite frequently. Sounds a little more like insurance fraud and arson to me...
