Rock County will get more federal flooding assistance
JANESVILLE--Rock County is included today in a list of 13 counties Gov. Jim Doyle announced will be eligible for federal disaster assistance for public damage and expenses.
The money will help cover flooding response including debris removal, emergency response services, equipment useage, search and rescue operations, emergency protective measures, and repairing or replacing damaged public facilities like roads and buildings.
In all, 27 counties are eligible for this aid.
Named in the federal disaster declaration for the Federal Emergency Management Agency Public Assistance program are: Calumet, Fond du Lac, Green Lake, Jefferson, Juneau, Kenosha, Marquette, Ozaukee, Racine, Rock, Sheboygan, Washington and Waukesha counties. Adams, Columbia, Crawford, Dane, Dodge, Grant, Iowa, Lafayette, Monroe, Milwaukee, Richland, Sauk, Vernon and Winnebago counties were declared earlier.
Under the Public Assistance program, FEMA will provide reimbursement to local and state agencies and certain private non-profit agencies for at least 75 percent of the total eligible costs.
