MADISON, Wis. (AP) - State lawmakers are expected to open discussions this week on a doctor-assisted suicide bill.

State Representatives Fred Risser of Madison and Frank Boyle of Superior first introduced the Death with Dignity'' bill in 1994. That's the same year Oregon became the first state to legalize doctor-assisted suicide.

The two Democrats say it's a compassionate alternative to what could be a very painful death.

Susan Armacost disagrees. The director of Wisconsin Right to Life says people suffering from serious illnesses often change their minds. She says people may say they want to die, but as they feel better they may want to live.

Boyle and Armacost are scheduled to testify Wednesday at the hearing before the Senate Committee.

OK All the right to lifers now you have to decide (BEGINNING OR END YOU PICK!) What are they gonna do duct tape the plug in the wall or are they gonna duct tape the un-wed rapped mothers leggs closed there is only so much duct tape to go around for the right to lifers as said. I just wonder how they would feel if they actually were put into A place with A dying relative or A daughter that was rapped by A criminal and became pregnant....... Do your thoughts remain the same are you still standing strong on your beliefs? Of course its easy to say yes until you are in those situations that ask you the hardcore questions that you would never expect in life so hey just A suggestion relax sit back and realistically put yourself in there shoes see how they fit and then make your decission! Lets say your Dad or Mom or better yet your Son or Daughter has been dying of cancer and has been in so much pain he or she throws up all the time from the chemotharapy and thier oncollagist says that there is nothing more that they can do. OK now what do you do? Do you make A loved one suffer for your beliefs, or do you do what needs to be done?Sometimes real life actually SUCKS!

Thanks goodness there's a Right-to-Lifer deciding that I'd regret seeking release from a painful, extended death that serves nothing. Let me make the decision to die, with dignity and forethought, or choose to remain artificially alive.
