Hixson resigns as District 4 representative
WHITEWATER—City Councilman Kim Hixson has resigned his position as the District 4 representative. Hixson, who also serves the 43rd District on the state legislature as a Democrat, wasn’t seeking re-election to the council.
“Resigning from the council now will provide me more time to dedicate to my job in the assembly and spend a little more time with my family,” he said.
The council will appoint another District 4 representative until a new member is elected in April.
Any city resident interested in serving District 4, other than the current candidates in the upcoming municipal elections, are being asked to forward a letter of interest to City Manager Kevin Brunner.
For more information, call Brunner at (262) 473-0500, Ext. 200.

Hixson waited too long and loses credibility with a late (in terms of the Spring Election) city council resignation. He has thwarted our system by waiting so long to figure out what many knew months ago - - the two jobs present conflicts that a freshman political science major could have figured out. Hopefully he isn't teaching anymore. Students deserve an average or better intellect serving up knowledge with a title.

State Representative Kim Hixson is doing an excellent job for the people in his district & deserves to be re-elected November 4th, 2008!
Kudo's to Mr Hixson on his decision to concentrate his full attention to the needs of his Assembly District's constituents!

I think they did a good job of keeping council issues separate from capitol issues. I can see how people might worry there could be a conflict of interest but they seemed to have been willing to disagree and vote their own ways when their personal views or the desires of their respective constituents were different.

It always seemed like a conflict of interest that both Hixson and his capitol staffer serve on the Whitewater City Council.
