King's life and legacy celebrated
Local leaders and residents celebrated the life of Martin Luther King, Jr. at a program called “Keeping the Dream Alive.”
The event, which took place at Blackhawk Technical College, featured music from the Beloit Janesville Symphony and the Beloit Community Choir. Hugo Henry led people in the singing of “Lift Every Voice and Sing,” and the Rev. Samuel Bradford of Bethel AME was the keynote speaker.
Katherine Conover of Janesville won a Martin Luther King Service award, and Ed Timmer also of Janesville, won the Martin Luther King Service Award.
